The TERMINAL TERRESTRE of Arequipa (Bus station) is located just 30 minutes by taxi from the center.
All local buses to Cabanaconde depart from this terminal.
When you buy your ticket to Cabanconde, ask for the seats on the right, so you can see the valley and the Colca canyon.
When you get on the bus and hand your luggage to the driver’s assistant, tell him that you are traveling CABANACONDE.
and he will put it in the right place.
When you arrive in Chivay the bus stops for 15 minutes to go to the bathroom
You can only purchase a one-way bus ticket from Arequipa to Cabanaconde in advance.
When you arrive in Cabanaconde you can buy return tickets a day before or when you arrive in Cabanaconde.
For short journeys between Cabanaconde – Cruz del Condor or Cruz del Condor – Chivay it is not possible to purchase the ticket in advance. Just get on the bus and pay when you are on the bus.
There is no problem if there are no seats, on short journeys you can travel standing

Take the bus from the terminal terrestre of the city of Arequipa (bus station) If you leave in the morning, we recommend buy the seats on the right side of the bus (opposite side of the driver) Since on the way out the canyon and the Colca valley are on the right.
It is recommended to buy the bus ticket before your trip, so you can guarantee seats on the bus, unfortunately at the moment you can NOT buy the local bus ticket online.
In Cabanaconde there is not bus station, the last bus stop is in Cabanaconde’s main square.

Just behind the bus station on «Javier Perez de Cuellar» street number 107. It is located next to Andres Avelino Caceres avenue.
Here is the «Transporte del Carpio» Company and inside is the «Caminos del Inca» Company.
Caminos del Inca leaves every day from 05:00hrs to 13:00hrs every hour. But it only goes to the Chivay bus station and from there you can take combis that leave every hour to Cabanaconde.
Travel time from Arequipa to Chivay is 3 hours and from Chivay to Cabanaconde is 1-2 hours.
The last combi (Van) leaves from Chivay`s bus stations to Cabanaconde at 14:00 hrs – 15:00hrs.

Travel tip: (Condor cross)
If you want to visit the Cruz del Condor, take the first bus 6:30 am with Andalucia and get off at the Cruz del Condor, after seeing the condors , take The Andalucia bus that arrive at the condor cross 10:00hrs and continue to Chivay -Arequipa or Puno
Or take the small combis that leave every hour from the Plaza de Cabanaconde and go to Chivay. These combis stop at the cross of the condor to pick up passengers.
Travel tip: (Hot spring)
Once you arrive at the Chivay bus station, buy your ticket to Arequipa and leave your backpack at the bus company office.
If you continue to Puno is the same, leave your backpacks at the bus office to Puno.
Go to the hot springs, take lunch and then continue to the city of Arequipa or Puno.
From Chivay bus station there are taxis or mototaxis . 15 min.driving
In Chivay hot spring theres lockers and is safe.
It’s actually a 20-seat capacity van, its seats aren’t as reclining as local buses, and there’s not much space to stretch your legs. It does not have a specific hold or compartment for suitcases. Usually suitcases and backpacks are transported in the aisle of the van.

It is the same van that arrives in Cabanaconde and returns to the city of Arequipa, this transport leaves from the Plaza de Armas de Cabanaconde.

How to get to Chivay (From Cabanaconde ) To take the connection to Puno?
You have these options:
Option 1.-By local bus Cabanaconde – Chivay 15.00 Soles
From Cabanaconde you can take the local bus that leaves at 06:00 am
No need to book, just go to the main square and get on the bus
You have to travel standing and as the local bus pass through the villages the people get off the bus and there are more seats available.
This bus arrives to Chivay 09: 00 a.m.
Travel tip: (Hot spring)
Go to the office of the bus that goes to Puno, leave your large suitcases at the office,
Take a taxi and after 15 minutes arrive at the LA CALERA hot springs and stay as long as you want, then take another taxi back to Chivay, take a lunch and arrive at the bus office for Puno.
Chivay is a city that is not that big, from the furthest restaurant to the bus office for Puno it is 15 minutes on foot.
In the Chivay square there are many restaurants, the bus offices that go to Puno are in the main square.
Remember the tourist bus to Puno leaves at 13:00 hrs
Option 2.-By tourist bus (minivan) 80.00 Soles per person
Departure from the main square of Cabanaconde between 9:30 a.m.-10: 00 a.m., this minivan makes 2 stops at the best viewpoints, at the Choquetico viewpoint, Antahuilque viewpoint, Maca church and at the Chacapi hot springs in the town of Yanque.
This minivan arrives at Chivay at 12:10 am and you can tell the driver to drop you off at the bus office that goes to Puno. (Main Square).
Register at the office, leave your large suitcases at the office, have lunch at a restaurant in the main square and then take the transport to go to Puno.
This minivan takes tourists after trekking to Chivay and the city of Arequipa.
Important:
The 3 stops it makes are only 10 minutes each stop, and in the hot springs at that time there are too many people, and they only enjoy the hot springs for 30 minutes.
If you want to make more stops, take your time for visits, enjoy more time in the hot springs and have a leisurely lunch, I recommend the following option:
Option 3.- By taxi, visiting the condor cross,
all viewpoints and hot springs 250 Soles up 4 people
You decide the departure time, on the tour you can visit the condor Cross for as long as you want, the Mirador de Tapay and the 4 best viewpoints in the Colca valley, you can decide how long to stay in the hot springs, have lunch quietly and then with the same car to the bus office that goes to Puno.
This is the best option not to miss the beauty of the Colca Valley and its attractions.

This is a personalized service, a private transport + Driver.
It leaves at 7am from the Santiago`s hotel and arrives at the Cruz del Condor at 7:15am.
The driver will tell you which are the best places in the Cruz del Condor to see the condors.
On the way you can stop where you want to take photos.
You also visit the excellent viewpoint of Tapay where you can also see condors without tourists.
Taking into account that the Cruz del Condor is where you normally see more condors, that is why we are one of the first to arrive and we stay at the Cruz del Condor for 1 hour. If during that hour we don’t see condors, then we stay longer trying to see the condors.
The driver will also explain the trek between the condor’s cross and another viewpoint bordering the canyon.
The route to go is ; Cabanaconde – viewpoint of tapay – Cruz del condor.
If we see that there are condors at the Tapay viewpoint, we take advantage and see the condors there without tourists and then we continue to the cross of the condor.
And if there are no condors at the viewpoint of Tapay, we go directly to the cross of the condor to arrive early and find a good place.
