How to get to cabanaconde :
BY LOCAL BUSES
In Arequipa there are two bus terminals, the Terminal Terrestre and the Terrapuerto and are located side by side.
They are about 15 to 20 minutes by taxi from Arequipa center. All local buses to Colca canyon – Chivay, Yanque, Cabanaconde leave from THE TERMINAL TERRESTRE.
There are 2 local buses companies to Cabanaconde via Chivay-Yanque:

Just behind the bus station on «Javier Perez de Cuellar» street number 107. It is located next to Andres Avelino Caceres avenue.
Here is the «Transporte del Carpio» Company and inside is the «Caminos del Inca» Company.
Caminos del Inca leaves every day from 05:00hrs to 13:00hrs every hour. But it only goes to the Chivay bus station and from there you can take combis that leave every hour to Cabanaconde.
Travel time from Arequipa to Cabanaconde is 3 hours and from Chivay to Cabanaconde is 1-2 hours.
The last combi (Van) leaves from Chivay to Cabanaconde at 14:00 hrs – 15:00hrs.
Arequipa -Chivay-Yanque-Cruz del Condor- Cabanaconde 35.00 Soles
Take the bus from the terminal terrestre of the city of Arequipa (bus station) We recommend you buy the seats on the right side of the bus (opposite side of the driver) Since on the way out the canyon and the Colca valley are on the right.
This way you can appreciate the valley and the Colca canyon.
Also when you leave your luggage on the bus, say the name of the town where you are going. This way the assistant will put your backpacks in the right place.
Between Arequipa and Chivay the bus does not stop. There are no bathrooms inside the bus.
Allow about 3 hours without a bath.
Always keep your bus ticket. When the bus arrives in Chivay it makes a stop of about 10 minutes to use the bathroom and to pick up other people. When you return from the bathroom there will surely be other people in your seat and the only way to get it back is to show your tickets.
It is recommended to buy the bus ticket before your trip, so you can guarantee seats on the bus, unfortunately at the moment you can NOT buy the local bus ticket online directly with the local companies.But no problem, we will help you.
In Cabanaconde there is not bus station, the last bus stop is in Cabanaconde’s main square.

All the offices of the bus company are located in the main square of Cabanaconde. If you want to buy return tickets you have to buy them at this place. At the moment it is not possible to buy online.

If you want to visit the Cruz del Condor, take the first bus Andalucia 6:30hrs and get off at the Cruz del Condor, after seeing the condors,

How to get to Chivay (From Cabanaconde ) To take the connection to Puno?
You have these options:
Option 1.-By local bus Cabanaconde – Chivay 15.00 Soles
From Cabanaconde you can take the local bus that leaves at 06:00 am
No need to book, just go to the main square and get on the bus
You have to travel standing and as the local bus pass through the villages the people get off the bus and there are more seats available.
This bus arrives to Chivay 09: 00 a.m.
Travel tip: (Hot spring)
Go to the office of the bus that goes to Puno, leave your large suitcases at the office,
Take a taxi and after 15 minutes arrive at the LA CALERA hot springs and stay as long as you want, then take another taxi back to Chivay, take a lunch and arrive at the bus office for Puno.
Chivay is a city that is not that big, from the furthest restaurant to the bus office for Puno it is 15 minutes on foot.
In the Chivay square there are many restaurants, the bus offices that go to Puno are in the main square.
Remember the tourist bus to Puno leaves at 13:00 hrs
Option 2.-By tourist bus (minivan) 70.00 Soles per person
Departure from the main square of Cabanaconde between 9:30 a.m.-10: 00 a.m., this minivan makes 2 stops at the best viewpoints, at the Choquetico viewpoint, Antahuilque viewpoint, Maca church and at the Chacapi hot springs in the town of Yanque.
This minivan arrives at Chivay at 12:10 am and you can tell the driver to drop you off at the bus office that goes to Puno. (Main Square).
Register at the office, leave your large suitcases at the office, have lunch at a restaurant in the main square and then take the transport to go to Puno.
This minivan takes tourists after trekking to Chivay and the city of Arequipa.
Important:
The 3 stops it makes are only 10 minutes each stop, and in the hot springs at that time there are too many people, and they only enjoy the hot springs for 30 minutes.
If you want to make more stops, take your time for visits, enjoy more time in the hot springs and have a leisurely lunch, I recommend the following option:
Option 3.- By taxi, visiting the condor cross,
all viewpoints and hot springs 250 Soles up 3 people
You decide the departure time, on the tour you can visit the condor Cross for as long as you want, the Mirador de Tapay and the 4 best viewpoints in the Colca valley, you can decide how long to stay in the hot springs, have lunch quietly and then with the same car to the bus office that goes to Puno.
This is the best option not to miss the beauty of the Colca Valley and its attractions.
